Can you name 100 cities?
Everyone can find a country on a map. Fewer people can retrieve a hundred big places people actually live, with the atlas closed. The first twenty are postcard megacities: London, Tokyo, New York. Then you remember a skyline and cannot retrieve the name on the sign.
This is that blank list. Type the city; Wikidata checks whether it is large enough to count. Country-only names like France belong on Name 100 Countries. Shared format: What is the Name 100 challenge?.
The big city, not every town
“New York” counts. “NYC” and “LA” can pass. A tiny government seat usually fails even if it flies a flag — this list wants size. London, Paris, and Tokyo still count because they are huge, not because of the office. Want the seat instead? Try: Name 100 Capitals.
What counts
- Type a major city — “London”, “Tokyo”, “New York”. Country names belong on Name 100 Countries.
- A place counts if Wikidata files it as a city and it is large enough (about 100,000 people, or a metropolis). Tiny seats usually fail.
- Each city once. Another spelling of the same Wikidata entry is rejected.
- No map and no hard cutoff. Timer starts on your first submit. Finish anytime, or the round ends at 100.

What cities count?
Major cities in Wikidata — usually a city or metropolis with a large population (about 100,000 or more). Use the common English name.
Does New York count?
Yes. New York, Sydney, and other huge places that are not seats belong here. Short forms like NYC and LA can pass.
Do small towns count?
Usually no. If Wikidata has no large population, or the place is only a tiny seat, it fails. Try a bigger city you actually know.
Is this the same as name 100 countries?
No. Countries is the country name. Cities is a big place people live. Same geography habit, different blank list.
Why was my name rejected?
Often it is a country, a continent, a tiny town, or a nickname the English label does not use. Try the name people print on a map.
Is there a time limit?
No hard cutoff. Race yourself with an upward-running timer.
