Name a Hundred

What is the Name 100 challenge?

Published 2026-08-29

A Name 100 challenge (sometimes written Name a Hundred) is a recall game. You get a category and an empty list. You type names from memory until you hit 100 valid answers — or until you stall and hit Finish.

How a round works

Multiple-choice trivia hands you a prompt and four answers. A Name 100 round does the opposite: no hints, no map, no sprite sheet. The difficulty is retrieval. The first twenty names are easy. After that the same handful starts looping, and you find the edge of what you actually remember.

On this site each guess is checked against Wikidata as you type. That keeps the round about memory instead of arguing whether someone “counts.” The same Wikidata entity counts once, even under another spelling. The clock starts on your first submit — valid or not — and counts up. Reach 100 and the round ends; or hit Finish early.

Rules that stay the same

  • One category per round (men, women, Pokémon, and so on).
  • Answers must match that category’s Wikidata rules.
  • No signup. Play in the browser on phone or desktop.
  • No hard 5-minute fail. The timer starts on your first submit and runs up. Stream dares often use five minutes; here you compare full-list times.
  • Finish anytime to share a score below 100. Hitting 100 ends the round automatically.

Why people search for it

The format spread because a stream or group chat can run it with almost no setup — and because the stall is funny. Variants like “name 100 women,” “name 100 men,” or “can you name 100 countries” are the same game with a different list. This page is the shared explanation; each category page is where you actually play.

What this site is not

It is not a 5-minute fail clock unless you impose one yourself. It is not multiple-choice trivia, a click-the-map geography test, or a “who is that Pokémon?” sprite quiz. Those formats help recognition. A Name 100 round measures retrieval. Category pages spell out what Wikidata will accept for that list — a country page will not take a demonym; a singer page will not take the band name.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Name 100 challenge?

A recall game: you get a category and an empty list, then name 100 valid people or things from memory. Answers are checked against Wikidata as you type.

Is there a 5-minute limit?

Not on this site. Stream dares often use five minutes. Here the timer runs up so you can compare full-list times, not only a sprint.

What counts as a valid name?

It depends on the category. People challenges need a real human with the matching gender in Wikidata. Pokémon, countries, movies, animals, fictional characters, singers, video games, capitals, superheroes, anime characters, Disney characters, dog breeds, elements, presidents, car brands, celebrities, cities, books, and birds each have their own entity rules on their challenge pages.

Is this a quiz?

A recall quiz — blank list, no multiple choice, no map, no sprites. You type; Wikidata confirms.

Do I need an account?

No. Play any live category in the browser. Scores are for sharing, not a login wall.

Is the Name 100 challenge free?

Yes. No signup. Play any live category in the browser.
