You can picture the scene. Can you name the title?

Film people love arguing taste. They are worse at a quieter test: close Letterboxd, ignore the posters, and name a hundred movies without a prompt. The first twenty fly — tentpoles, childhood DVDs, the franchise you rewatch every year. Then you get a face, a score, a shot of rain on a windshield… and no title.

Multiple-choice film trivia flatters you with four thumbnails. A blank box does not. Type a title; Wikidata confirms it is a film. Shared format: What is the Name 100 challenge?. Heroes from those films belong on Name 100 Fictional Characters, not here. Elsa and Mickey belong on Try: Name 100 Disney Characters. Prefer a console shelf? Try: Name 100 Video Games. Prefer the spine, not the poster? Try: Name 100 Books. Creature names from those games belong on Name 100 Pokémon.

Title, not the actor, not the show

Prefer the primary English title (“The Godfather”, not a tagline). Sequels count separately when they are distinct film entities. TV series generally fail — this is movies, not “a thing I watched.” Foreign films can count; the English listing Wikidata uses is safer than the original-script title if that is not the English label.

What counts

  • Primary English film titles. Actors, quotes, and taglines do not count.
  • TV series generally fail. Sequels and remakes count separately when they are distinct films.
  • Each film once. The same Wikidata entity twice is rejected.
  • No hard cutoff. Timer starts on your first submit. Finish anytime, or the round ends at 100.

After the tentpoles dry up

Cluster by decade, franchise, or director. After Marvel / Star Wars / Ghibli, mine Best Picture memory, holiday movies, and one film per country you have actually watched. Skip “Episode …” subtitles unless that is the searchable English label.

Frequently Asked Questions

What movies count?

Titles Wikidata records as films. Use the primary English title when you can. TV shows and actor names do not count.

Do sequels and remakes count separately?

If Wikidata has distinct film entities (for example different sequels), each valid title can count once. Duplicate submissions of the same entity are rejected.

Can I enter foreign films?

Yes — try the English title commonly used on Wikidata / English-language listings. Original-script titles may fail if they aren’t the English label.

Is this film trivia or a naming quiz?

Both, sort of. It is film trivia without the four posters. You retrieve titles from memory; we do not show stills or year hints.

Why was my title rejected?

Often it is a TV series, a tagline, an actor, or a subtitle Wikidata does not use as the English label. Try the main theatrical title.

Is there a time limit?

No hard cutoff. Race yourself with an upward-running timer.

Is this film trivia game free?

Yes — no signup, free to play in the browser.
